Sheila Bunt Recognised at 2019 Housing Hero Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Sheila Bunt, a Prospect Community Housing committee member and tenant, on being recognised as Highly Commended within the Tenant Lifetime Achievement Category at the Chartered Institute of Housing 2019 Housing Heroes Awards; notes that the awards took place at Manchester Central on 24 June; understands that the awards celebrate all of the unsung heroes in the UK housing sector; recognises that Sheila helped set up Wester Hailes Housing Association in 1988 with no assets and no previous experience in housing; appreciates her 31 years as a volunteer and her determination to continue to demand high standards of the organisation; further appreciates that Sheila has been credited as being “as an outstanding leader and excellent role model” who has made a difference “to the physical landscape and thousands of people’s lives”; commends her contribution to the community, and believes that Sheila is a great example of the positive contributions made by the community-based housing association movement.
