Green Economy Funding for Falkirk District Organisations

That the Parliament applauds funding of over £900,000 from the Scottish Power Energy Networks Green Economy Fund to organisations in the Falkirk district for projects across the Forth Valley; notes that the find was set up to contribute up to £20 million over two years by SP Energy Networks to support initiatives that will benefit the people of Scotland and support ambitious green energy plans and local economic growth; understands that Forth Valley College will receive £43,727 to create a STEM hub at its three campuses in Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire, where students, businesses and members of the public can learn about renewables and energy efficiency; recognises that Little Kerse Leisure has been granted £380,000 and will use this to replace floodlights at its football facilities with modern, energy-efficient LED versions; notes that Forth Environment Link will expand its e-bike sharing scheme with the £483,690 grant that it received; considers it is important to invest in low-carbon solutions to generate economic growth for the benefit of communities and to further protect the environment; commends the work of the Scottish Government in driving forward what it considers ambitious plans to tackle climate change; calls on the UK Government to follow what it sees as Scotland’s world-leading example on this and many other issues, and wishes all three organisations the very best in delivering these projects for their communities.
