INDEPEN-DANCE at Parksprings Care Home
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Parksprings Care Home in Motherwell on its recent joint project with Leonard Cheshire and IDEPEN-DANCE, which saw students from New College Lanarkshire team up with residents from the care home to learn to dance; understands that the programme ran for nine weeks and culminated in a show at the care home in front of guests from the local community, family and friends; understands that Leonard Cheshire recruits 16- to 35-year-olds with additional needs to take part in skills development activity-based programmes in their local community, while INDEPEN-DANCE provides disabled and non-disabled people with the opportunity to enjoy, express and fulfil their potential through dance; recognises the importance of inter-generational projects in bringing all sections of the community together, and commends Rosie Brennan, the Lead Activity Co-ordinator and all the staff at Parksprings Care Home on their dedication and commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of their residents.
