Orkney Alcohol Counselling and Advisory Service Receives Lottery Funding

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Alcohol Counselling and Advisory Service on receiving a £9,500 Awards for All Scotland grant from the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that the group will use the funding to expand its young person counselling service, which provides counselling, advice and assistance to young people who are experiencing difficulties with alcohol, and also provides advice and support to their parents; further understands that the overall aim of the service is to provide an integrated referral, alcohol education and counselling service for the local police, Children’s Reporter, social work and NHS Orkney; pays tribute to the excellent work of the counsellors who carry out the service in helping young people to overcome problems with alcohol misuse, and wishes everyone the very best for the expansion of the initiative.
