Wishaw Priest Celebrates Silver Jubilee
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Father Gerry Maguiness of St Ignatius RC Church Wishaw on the occasion of his silver jubilee; understands that Fr Maguiness was ordained in 1994 and served at St Colmcille’s in Rutherglen, St Monica’s Coatbridge and St Edwards Airdrie before being appointed parish priest at St Ignatius in 2012, having served there as an assistant priest 20 years previously; notes that the celebration Mass was supported by Caritas pupils from St Aidan’s High School and the St Ignatius Choir, as well as local cubs and scouts; expresses its gratitude to Fr Maguiness for his continued hard work and guidance to both the parish and wider community, and hopes that he enjoys his silver jubilee celebrations.
