Howgate Centre Falkirk Supports Community Groups

That the Parliament applauds the Howgate Shopping Centre in Falkirk on awarding £500 each to four groups to help them carry out their worthwhile work; understands that Police Scotland Youth Volunteers, which aims to inspire young people to participate in their community and promote good citizenship and encourage the spirit of adventure, will use its award to help purchase uniforms and equipment for its volunteers; notes that Me to You, which helps families that are struggling financially by providing day-to-day essentials, will use its funding to ensure that electrical items that it donates to families are PAT tested and to cover the costs of delivering donations; acknowledges that the Rainbow Muslim Women’s Group, which brings together ethnic minority women to help reduce social isolation, improve community cohesion enhance education and improve employability, health and wellbeing, will put its grant towards a multicultural, educational and interfaith event to help foster harmony and community integration; believes that the Easter Carmuirs Primary School Autism Base will use its grant to help support children with severe autism by creating a sensory room and play area; recognises the significant contribution that these, and other such organisations across the Falkirk area, give to communities; considers that funding such as this is important in helping community organisations carry out the work that they do; looks forward to seeing more organisations benefitting from this funding stream, and wishes all recipients the very best in taking forward their work.
