Falkirk District, Britain’s Best Walking Neighbourhood 2019
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the Falkirk district on being named by the charity, the Ramblers, as Britain’s Best Walking Neighbourhood for 2019; understands that the area was shortlisted with nine others, receiving 20% of the thousands of votes that were cast; notes that the award highlights the work by Falkirk Council and its partners in developing and maintaining its path network, which stretches over 383 miles and is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike on a daily basis; understands that the award celebrates the best of everyday walking, neighbourhoods in which local authorities and community groups have improved streets and routes for walking and with good access to green space; commends Stirling, Falkirk and District Ramblers on nominating the area, and looks forward to this and further success bringing more people to the Falkirk district to enjoy what it has to offer.
