Longhope RNLI Lifeboat Open Day
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Longhope Lifeboat Guild on organising a successful Longhope RNLI Lifeboat open day on 7 July 2019, which raised an impressive total of £905.82 to support the continued and invaluable work of Longhope RNLI; believes that the great turnout on the day highlights the importance of the service to island and coastal communities and provided an excellent opportunity, not only to raise funds, but to also increase public awareness about the work of the RNLI; notes that visitors had the opportunity to meet the volunteers from the lifeboat crew and were treated to entertainment from the Kirkwall City Band; thanks the volunteers who gave up their time to organise the open day and provide catering, and pays tribute to the dedicated Longhope lifeboat crew, who demonstrate selfless bravery all year round in keeping members of the public safe while at sea.
