Blooming Inverkip
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Blooming Inverkip on being awarded a Silver Gilt Award by the Royal Agricultural Society; understands that the volunteer-led gardening group, which was formed to brighten up the village, decided to go even further and enter the Gardening Scotland pop-up garden 2 metre x 2 metre challenge; recognises that it created a pop-up based on a slimming journey, so teamed up with Slimming World’s coordinator in Inverkip to design a garden that included a temptation trail, which had items that the Slimming World group found tempting; appreciates that, in contrast and to show there was a different path, it also included a trail with vegetables, an apple tree and herbs; notes that, in commemoration of winning the Silver Gilt, the plants from the design will be planted at the Inverkip Hub; believes that this is an example of community groups working together to improve the health and wellbeing of people; thanks the Slimming World group for sharing stories that inspired the garden, and commends Blooming Inverkip for its creativity and community spirit.
