Success for Kara Hanlon at the Island Games
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kara Hanlon from Stornoway on winning four golds at the 2019 NatWest Island Games in Gibraltar, by winning the 50m,100m and 200m breaststroke and the 100m individual medley, and silver in the 200m individual medley; acknowledges that her times of 1:07.28 and 31.00 in the 100m and 50m breaststroke were new games' records; recognises that, since first competing in this competition in 2011 aged 14, Kara has won 12 medals, eight of which have been gold; notes that 2019 has also seen her win three golds at the Scottish National and Open Swimming Championships and silver at the British championships; praises her inspirational achievements and dedication; commends the entire delegation from the Western Isles at the games for doing the islands proud, and wishes Kara continued success.
