Claire’s Protest Against Bullfighting
The motion
That the Parliament applauds Claire Oldfather, who is from Irvine, on taking part in a protest against bullfighting in Spain; understands that Claire, along with dozens of supporters of PETA and the Spanish animal protection group AnimaNaturalis, staged a “crime scene” at the Plaza Consistorial in Pamplona ahead of the notorious Running of the Bull spectacle, at which terrified bulls are chased down the streets to an arena where they are tortured to death; appreciates that the scene was to remind onlookers that bulls are made of flesh, blood and bones and feel fear and pain; commends Claire and all involved for what it sees as them having the bravery to champion vulnerable animals, and wish her, and everyone involved with the campaign, all the best.
