Uddingston Grammar Pupil Wins Harry Barry Prize for Music
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Michael Currie of Uddingston Grammar School on becoming the fifth recipient of the Harry Barry Prize for Music; understands that the Prize was launched in 2015 as a tribute to the musician, who wrote songs during a 50-year career; notes that Michael has his own YouTube channel featuring songs he has written and recorded himself, which is testament to his impressive musical skills and talents; understands that Michael also picked up the Cencentus Award for music and an S5 Endeavour Award at Uddingston Grammar’s prize-giving ceremony; notes that Uddingston Grammar celebrates the achievement of many pupils at its annual awards ceremony, with more than 400 hundred awards being presented at the 2019 event, and believes that celebrations of learning and wider achievement are important in recognising the achievements of young people.
