KIrkwall Named Top Cruise Destination
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kirkwall in Orkney on being named the Top Cruise Destination for Western Europe and the UK at the Cruise Critic Awards 2019; understands that the award is based on customer reviews and ratings and follows previous successes in 2010 and 2016 when Kirkwall was voted Best Cruise Port in the UK; notes the contribution of the cruise liner industry to Orkney’s vitally important tourism sector as well as the wider local economy; recognises the work of staff in the Marine Services team, local tourist guides and the wide variety of businesses and groups for the part they play in making Orkney such an attractive tourist destination, and looks forward to Orkney continuing to develop and enhance its reputation as a "must visit" destination for tourists.
