Farm Safety Week 2019
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Farm Safety Week 2019, which ran from 15 to 19 July and was supported and promoted by key agricultural stakeholders such as NFU Scotland, Yellow Wellies and the Farm Safety Foundation with the key aims of promoting responsible and safe farming practice and make people working in the agricultural sector aware of the dangers associated with daily tasks; welcomes NFU Scotland's particular focus this year on quad bike and helmet safety, particularly as there are around two fatalities and 1,000 quad bike-related injuries reported annually; encourages all farmers and agricultural workers to learn about how health and safety risks, which cause an average 39 deaths per year, can be avoided, and thanks all in the sector for their continued work, commitment and dedication in growing and rearing the exceptional quality produce for the nation.
