The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Dumfries and Galloway Burns Association on its successful 2019 annual Brow Well ceremony, which was followed by a social gathering at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries; notes that the commemorative ceremony, which has been a tradition for decades, was held in Ruthwell Church and then at the Brow Well in Dumfries and Galloway, and is a memorial service to Robert Burns' life and work, as well as the time that he spent in Dumfries when he was advised by his physician, Dr Maxwell, to drink from the well with the purpose to improve his ill health; acknowledges that this is thought to have contributed to his death soon after on 21 July 1796; congratulates all those who performed exceptionally, by singing or recitation, the words and works of Burns, and sends it best wishes the Dumfries and Galloway Burns Association.
