Beacon Arts Centre, Green Arts Initiative Winner
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock on winning the Green Arts Initiative, which was set up to support sustainability work in the cultural sector by Creative Carbon Scotland; understands that it won funding to buy bean seeds to supply schools and encourage them to grow their own crops in class; recognises that this ties in with the theatre’s 2019 panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, and that pupils will be invited along to a green arts workshop at the venue later in the year, and commends the Beacon on this project and engaging with schoolchildren in Inverclyde regarding how to live more sustainably.
