Motherwell Bookseller Wins Young Bookseller Special Achievement Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates 18-year-old Miriam Mathie of The GLO Bookshop in Motherwell on winning the James Patterson Young Bookseller Special Achievement Award; notes that the Award was set up by the award-winning crime author to acknowledge and develop young people in bookselling across the UK and Ireland, with Miriam being one of only three recipients in Scotland; understands that Miriam started in the bookshop as a work experience pupil while attending the town's Dalziel High School; further notes that she was nominated for the award by the shop manager for her enthusiasm for her work and general zest for life; recognises that Miriam will study journalism at the University of Strathclyde, and wishes her well in all her endeavours.
