Beatrice Offshore Windfarm
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the official opening of the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm; notes that the project, located about eight miles off the coast of Wick, is Scotland’s largest offshore windfarm; recognises that it has 84 huge turbines that can generate enough energy to power 450,000 homes; welcomes the redevelopment of buildings in Wick where around 90 staff will look after the operations and maintenance of the windfarm over its 25-year life, and commends those involved in the development and construction of this project led by SSE Renewables in a joint venture with Copenhagen Infrastructure and Red Rock Power Limited, which has been completed on time and £100 million under budget.
