EU Child Poverty Funding Unspent by UK Government

The motion

That the Parliament notes with dismay reports from the House of Lords EU Home Affairs Sub-committee that the UK Government has failed to utilise £3.5 million of funding from the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), with £600,000 being returned to the EU; understands that, if the remaining funds are not distributed by the end of 2019, a similar amount could be returned to the EU; believes that the uncertainty of Brexit could result in the funding being withdrawn completely; considers the inaction of the UK Government to distribute this funding to alleviate child poverty unacceptable, and calls on it to immediately progress allocating the funding to support those most in need.
