Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Community Council's Cycle Village
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Community Council on being awarded £6.5 million by Sustrans, which will be matched by its bid-partner, Glasgow City Council, to realise its Cycle Village proposal; believes that the community-led bid will provide more accessibility, segregated cycle lanes and improvements to street spaces in the area; understands that it will link key sections of the National Cycle Network through the vibrant Finnieston area to further enhance the area's economy and the appeal of the network in Glasgow; considers that this project sets a strong example for other community-led street design projects to follow, and commends the work of the community council in developing a strong and exciting business case, which it believes has united the community around an ambition for greener, more accessible and cycle-friendly spaces.
