Stromness Shopping Week 2019

That the Parliament congratulates Stromness on hosting another successful shopping week; notes that the shopping week began in 1948 and is the longest running festival in Orkney; understands that many of the regular favourite events took place in 2019, including the Yard of Ale and the 10k race, with the fancy dress parade rounding off proceedings at the end of the week; congratulates Eryn Craigie on being chosen to be the Stromness Shopping Week Queen 2019, and Callie Davidson and Ellen Moar on being named the Shopping Week attendants; thanks the volunteers on the committee who work tirelessly all year round to organise the festivities and ensure that there is a varied schedule of events for people of all ages and interests to enjoy; further thanks the local businesses that provide vital sources of funding towards the running of the festival; believes that the shopping week is the perfect opportunity for family and friends to come together, and displays a great example of Stromness’s excellent community spirit, and wishes Stromness many more successful and memorable shopping weeks to come.
