Closure of the National Autistic Society’s NASplus Project in West Lothian
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its disappointment at the closure of the National Autistic Society Scotland’s NASplus service in West Lothian; understands that the project, which has provided personalised and tailored support to people with autism since April 2016, will close on 30 August 2019 after unsuccessful attempts by the charity to obtain additional funding to cover its running costs; acknowledges that around 60 young people and adults will be impacted by the closure of the service; welcomes the ongoing attempts by the charity to gain funding so that it can continue to offer support for people in West Lothian; believes that the ending of the NASplus service follows the closure of a number of one-stop-shops due to lack of funds, and believes that this highlights a need for a sustainable funding solution for vital autism services across Scotland.
