Orkney, Fairtrade Community of the Month

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney on being named Fairtrade Community of the Month by The Fairtrade Foundation; understands that this international recognition was awarded as a result of support from the area's producers, retailers and the hospitality industry; believes that the commitment to Fairtrade underlines the wide array of high-quality production and service available in the community; notes that Orkney was chosen from over 2,000 Fairtrade communities worldwide who likewise share commitments to equitable production; recognises that its business community has shown a strong commitment to Fairtrade through its ongoing campaigning; thanks all involved for their work in achieving this status, and hopes that the success will long continue.
