Victoria Park, Best Park Nomination
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Victoria Park on its nomination for the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Park Award 2019; considers that Victoria Park is treasured by people in the Glasgow Anniesland constituency; notes its historical significance in conserving Fossil Grove, allowing visitors to see fossilised stumps and roots with strata dating back to 325 million years ago; recognises the importance of the availability of green spaces throughout Scottish cities; acknowledges that the charity, Fields in Trust, helps to protect 273 parks and green spaces in Scotland, totalling over 2,000 hectares, for future generations to enjoy, and wishes Victoria Park the best of luck in the competition to win the Best Park Award 2019.
