19 Million Visitors to Glasgow's Cultural Services in 2018
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow on its near 19 million visits that were made to public museums and venues run by Glasgow Life in 2018; understands that visits included the European Championships, Celtic Connections and displays in museums, including Kelvingrove's showcasing of Leonardo Da Vinci sketches, Dippy the Dinosaur and Linda McCartney's photo collection; notes that the Kelvingrove and the Riverside museums attracted 1.3 million visitors; further notes that Glasgow's libraries recorded 4.7 million recorded visits to the city's 33 libraries, and publicly-run music venues recorded over 475,000 attendances; believes that these figures represent the dynamism of the growing arts and tourism environment in the city, and wishes all staff involved in delivering cultural services another successful year.
