Glasgow Airport EasyJet Expansion
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of an easyJet expansion at Glasgow Airport; understands that this includes the addition of a fifth aircraft to its Glasgow base, as well as a new domestic route from Glasgow to Birmingham, which will operate year-round following its launch in March 2020; notes that the fifth Airbus A320 will provide an additional 340,000 seats for passengers travelling to and from the city each year, and will create approximately 50 jobs for Glasgow-based flight, cabin and ground crew; recognises that easyJet, which is already the largest airline in Glasgow, will increase its domestic links from this airport by over 5% in 2019, and congratulates this move, which it considers will offer greater services and employment opportunities for the surrounding area.
