Success for Wishaw Youngsters at Kickboxing World Championships
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Jay Buddie and Leon Thomson on their recent wins at the Ringsports 2019 Open World Championships; notes that Jay, a pupil at St Aidan’s High School, lifted the WKO world championship belt in the 41kg category and followed up with three gold medals in the low kick, light contact and full contact categories, and that Leon, a pupil at Cambusnethan Primary School, became Scotland’s youngest-ever gold medallist in the light contact contest; further notes that Johnny Pell also won gold in the full contact category and that Harrison Laats narrowly missed out on bronze in his first-ever fight; recognises that all four youngsters train at Rivals Gym in Wishaw and that collectively they won five gold medals and two silver medals, and wishes the youngsters and the gym well in all future endeavours.
