Hong Kong Protests
The motion
That the Parliament is gravely concerned with the current and ongoing situation in Hong Kong with thousands of protestors taking to the streets against the Extradition Bill that would allow dissidents in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China to face trial; understands that the protestors see this legislation as a further erosion of the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which ensures the freedom and rights of people living in Hong Kong, and calls on the UK Government to intervene, ensuring that the Declaration is implemented and upheld for 50 years as was promised after the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997.
