Sectarianism and Racism in Scottish Football
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes what it sees as UEFA’s tough sanction on Rangers, forcing the club to shut a section of its stadium an upcoming European match as punishment for reported sectarian and racist chanting; appreciates the seriousness with which Rangers has taken the sanction; acknowledges that sectarianism and racism have no place in football or in society in general, and calls on Scottish football to take a similar approach to that of UEFA, which imposes strict liability on clubs for sectarian or racist chanting that occurs at stadiums during matches in its competitions.
