Double Trophy Success for the Edinburgh Eagles Rugby League Team

That the Parliament congratulates the Edinburgh Eagles rugby league team on its double trophy success in 2019, winning the Scottish Cup in Glasgow in July, after defeating Strathmore Silverbacks, and the North East Rugby League (NERL) title in August, following a golden point extra time victory against Jarrow Vikings in the Grand Final at Whitley Bay; understands that this was the club's inaugural season in the NERL; notes that the Eagles will be Scotland’s representatives in the 2020 Challenge Cup; believes that the achievements of Scotland’s club sides can inspire a new generation of rugby league players and supporters, and calls on sportscotland, and all who deliver grassroots sports around the country, to support the continued development of rugby league.
