Four Star Award for Irvine’s Burns Club
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Irvine Burns Club on being awarded a Four Star rating by VisitScotland; understands that the award is part of a quality assurance scheme that is a benchmark for quality across the tourism industry; notes that the Wellwood Burns Centre and Museum, home of the Irvine Burns Club, dates back to 1826 and offers a range of artwork, exhibits and information relating to the life and works of Scotland’s National Bard; further notes that Robert Burns moved to Irvine in 1781 as a 22-year-old farmer and stayed until the Spring of 1782; commends the commitment and hard work of the members of the Burns Club, and wishes them all the best for the future.
