Campaign for National Thrombectomy Service
The motion
That the Parliament praises the campaigning work of the stroke survivor, Robert Baldock, from East Lothian, who is calling for thrombectomies to be made available in Scotland; notes what it sees as the importance of thrombectomy as a stroke treatment that can significantly reduce the chances of disability after a severe ischaemic stroke; understands that stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in Scotland, including in the East Lothian constituency; further understands that between 600 and 800 people in Scotland each year would be suitable for a thrombectomy after having a stroke; believes that, in 2015, thrombectomy was evidenced to be a highly effective treatment for stroke, and notes the view that stroke patients in Scotland would greatly benefit from a national thrombectomy service.
