Saheliya Funding Boost
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Saheliya on its £9,918 Awards for All Scotland Community Fund grant, which it; will use to continue to develop its aquaponics fish farm at their St Rollox base in Springburn and to produce vegetables and fish for the community's cafés and shops; understands that this will provide opportunities for women to develop new skills, build confidence and carry out volunteering; acknowledges that Saheliya is a hugely respected organisation that supports and promotes the positive mental health and well-being of black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker, refugee and migrant women and girls, aged 12 and over, in both Glasgow and Edinburgh and that this support includes counselling, complimentary therapies, environmental projects, a learning hub and child care services, including offering affordable childcare through its Around the World nursery and mobile crèche service; believes that this latest funding award is another example of the positive difference that Saheliya makes to the lives of many women across the Maryhill and Springburn constituency and beyond, and wishes everyone involved with the organisation the very best for its latest exciting venture.
