Aberdeen Signs-up to the HIV Fast Track Cities Initiative

Lodged by Lewis Macdonald Standard Motion 10 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Aberdeen has become the second Scottish city to join the Fast Track Cities initiative, which is a global focus on HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment; understands that Aberdeen City Council agreed unanimously to join the worldwide network of cities trying to reduce the stigma and discrimination related to HIV by signing the Paris Declaration; acknowledges that the city already meets the Paris "90-90-90" targets, which aim for 90% of people living with HIV to know their status, to be on antiretroviral treatment (ART) and to have an undetectable viral load; commends all involved with the initiative at the council and Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership for the work that they have done, and hopes that, as a result of this, no-one in Aberdeen living with HIV will face stigma or discrimination.
