Bonnymuir Green Celebrates First Anniversary of Community Buyout

That the Parliament welcomes the first anniversary of Bonnymuir Green Community Trust’s successful buyout of Bonnymuir Bowling Green in Aberdeen in September 2018; acknowledges the significance of the purchase from what it believes was an initially unwilling seller, the first of its type since the principles of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 were extended to urban communities in 2015; recognises the trust and community volunteers whose tireless effort and hard work made the buyout happen and established the community garden and café over the last 12 months; appreciates the initiatives that have benefited the local community as a result of the buyout, such as the sustainable growing programme, which has educated over 2,000 visitors about growing and cooking vegetables in the last year, and wishes everyone involved with the trust and local community the very best success with the Green for many years to come.
