Aberdeen’s Second Cruyff Court Named After Neale Cooper

That the Parliament welcomes the decision by Aberdeen City Council, the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Denis Law Legacy Trust to name the second Cruyff Court in the city after the Aberdeen legend, Neale Cooper, who played more than 200 matches for his home city club, Aberdeen FC, between 1979 and 1986, winning two Premiership titles, four Scottish Cups, one League Cup and both the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Super Cup in 1983, and who sadly died in 2018; understands that Cruyff Court Neale Cooper is currently being constructed in Torry, following the opening of Cruyff Court Denis Law in the city centre; recognises that there are more than 250 Cruyff Courts in 20 countries worldwide, which provide a safe place for young people to engage in a variety of sports, and agrees that naming Aberdeen’s second Cruyff Court after Neale is a fitting recognition of his talent, and of how fondly he is remembered in the city and beyond.
