The Work of Edinburgh Crisis Centre
The motion
That the Parliament commends the work of the Edinburgh Crisis Centre, which is operated and run by Penumbra; understands that it provides a 24/7 service for people over 16 in Edinburgh who experience a mental health crisis; notes that it offers its service users support and a safe space for a short period of time before signposting them to longer-term treatment; recognises that it is a partnership between the Edinburgh Carers Council, NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council; acknowledges that, to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September 2019, Penumbra held an open day at its Leith centre to showcase and celebrate the work of its dedicated staff and volunteers, who support around 2,000 people each year, and sends its best wishes to all involved with this important service.
