Glasgow to Host COP26
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Glasgow; understands that the event, which will be held jointly between the UK and Italy in November 2020, will take place at the SEC in Glasgow; believes that Glasgow was selected in recognition of the action that it has taken on sustainability, and ambition to be at the forefront on climate action, including a determination to become the first zero-carbon city, and welcomes the opportunity for Scotland to play a leading role in promoting the increased global effort to tackle climate change.
