The motion

That the Parliament understands that around 75% of the people who die each year in the Lothian region had a palliative care need; recognises that, in 2018-19, Marie Curie supported 475 patients in the area with 4,188 visits; further recognises that, in the same period, over 95% of patients supported by Marie Curie passed in their place of choice, which it considers is well known to be important to people who are terminally ill, their loved ones and their families; appreciates that, throughout Scotland in 2018-19, Marie Curie cared for 7,595 people with a terminal illness, as well as their families and their carers; believes that Marie Curie provides an invaluable service for people living with a terminal illness and their families, offering expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time that they have left, and thanks all those at Marie Curie for their continued care and support.
