Scotland’s Coastal Rubbish Aerial Photography

That the Parliament recognises the SCRAPbook (Scotland’s Coastal Rubbish Aerial Photography) project, which uses light air craft to fly over coast lines and take photographs of the landscape; understands that the project, which was launched by the Moray Firth Partnership and developed into a national collaboration with Sky Watch Civil Air Patrol, is highly important in tackling the masses of plastic that have built up along many of Scotland’s beautiful coast lines; commends the project for the amount of data that it has accumulated, including what type of litter is the most common and which areas have some of the most build-up of litter; considers that, although this is a great step towards the goal to clear up beaches and make Scotland a cleaner, less polluted place, it is important that this information is acted; believes that people can contribute by participating in beach clean-ups, which have been taking place across Scotland, such as on Cramond Beach, and thanks all individuals, communities and organisations that have participated in beach cleans and other initiatives to reduce marine litter.
