Mental Health Film, CONNECT

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Marilyn Edmond on her directorial debut with the film, CONNECT, which is set in North Berwick and premiered at the 2019 Glasgow Film Festival; understands that it tells the story of young man with mental health issues, Brian, who is played by Kevin Guthrie; recognises that it highlights the importance of talking about mental health and reducing any stigma surrounding this; considers the film to be thought-provoking and believes that it will help to encourage a national conversation around mental health and suicide prevention, and wishes Marilyn success with the film, which was screened at the Parliament on World Suicide Prevention Day and is touring venues across the country, including in Glasgow, Inverness, Aberfeldy, Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.
