Borders Flamingo Chick Firstborn This Year

That the Parliament congratulates the team at Bird Gardens Scotland at Oxton and joins them in welcoming the first flamingo chick to be born this year; notes that the currently unnamed and unsexed bird was born on 13 September 2019 and is currently the only baby chick flamingo in Scotland, although further flamingo chicks are expected to be born later this year; acknowledges that the aviary is also home to geese, swans, ducks, pheasants, lovebirds and other domestic and wild birds; notes that Bird Gardens Scotland aims to breed a flock of up to 60 flamingos over the next six years, and wishes Scottish aviaries good luck in any collaborative attempts to increase Scotland’s flamingo stock through the sharing and donation of chicks to replenish ageing flocks.
