Koh-I-Noor Restaurant
The motion
That Parliament thanks one of Glasgow’s oldest, and what it considers its most famous, Indian restaurants, the Koh-I-Noor, for its huge contribution to cuisine and society in the city; notes that, after 55 years of continued service, the restaurant has closed its doors; commends its owner, Waseem Tahir, and his family and staff for the service that they have given to Glasgow; acknowledges that it served Indian cuisine to Glaswegians and visitors to the city since 1964, when it opened in Gibson Street in Kelvinbridge; recognises that three generations ran the restaurant since then and that it was a fixture on the edge of the city centre at Charing Cross; notes that it drew in a huge number of food fans over the years, including celebrity guests such as Sir Billy Connolly, and commends the Koh-I-Noor on its service to Glasgow.
