RNIB Scotland Cricket Match
The motion
That the Parliament notes the first-ever cricket match between RNIB Scotland’s visually impaired team and MSPs and journalists, which took place on 14 September 2019; understands that the MSPs and journalists team wore visually impairing glasses while playing to better understand the challenges that are faced; congratulates the RNIB Scotland team on its resounding victory; welcomes the partnership and collaboration with Cricket Scotland, which is working on improving access to the sport for disabled people; supports Cricket Scotland and the RNIB's desire to have a recognised national visually impaired team; acknowledges the need to ensure that all in society have access to sport, both for recreation and professionally, and calls for appropriate funding and government logistical support to be provided to give all disabled people in Scotland the opportunity to participate in sport.
