University of Stirling, Times/Sunday Times UK Sports University of the Year 2020
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the University of Stirling on being announced as The Times and Sunday Times UK Sports University of the Year 2020; understands that this is the first time that a Scottish university has received the award; acknowledges that this recognition, which comes ahead of the publication of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, on 22 September 2019, is a reflection of the university’s world-class facilities and excellence across sports performance, research and education; notes that the next 12 months will also see the completion of the £20 million transformation of the sports facilities on the campus; believes that these investments will not only support future generations of Scotland’s elite athletes, but the students, staff and wider community across Stirling and Clackmannanshire who train alongside them, promoting healthy lifestyles for all; recognises the role that the University of Stirling has played in the development of Scotland’s elite athletes, and wishes all involved in the success of Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence the best of luck in the years to come.
