Sandy Cortmann's Commemorative Parachute Jump
The motion
That the Parliament commends Sandy Cortmann, who is a veteran from Bridge of Don, for commemorating the anniversary of Operation Market Garden by taking part in a parachute jump over the Dutch town of Arnhem, 75 years after he and more than 30,000 fellow paratroopers dropped behind the enemy lines; notes that, while in the Netherlands, Sandy has paid tribute by visited the graves of his former comrades; remembers the 1,500 British soldiers who lost their lives in the operation; acknowledges the great debt of gratitude that everyone has to all who served during the Second World War, and wishes Sandy well.
