Challenge Poverty Week
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the week beginning 7 October 2019 is Challenge Poverty Week; understands that the Poverty Alliance has organised the week for the last seven years; welcomes that it offers an opportunity to reflect on what it considers the unacceptably high levels of poverty in Scotland, and to build a stronger movement against poverty; agrees with the campaign’s three core messages that poverty exists in Scotland and affects us all, poverty can be solved by boosting incomes and reducing costs, and solving poverty is about ensuring that everyone can participate in society; observes that a large number organisations, both across the Lothian region and Scotland, are taking part, including Conduit Scotland in Bathgate, and calls on everyone who is able to do so to take part in Challenge Poverty Week and make poverty in Scotland a thing of the past.
