The motion

That the Parliament applauds the work of Scottish Charity, What? Why? Children in Hospital (WWCIH); understands that the charity seeks to improve the lives of all families in Scotland by providing services that make hospital procedures less daunting for parents, carers and children; notes that WWCIH produces videos showing children in real-life situations asking questions, being cared for by nurses and doctors, and expressing how they feel during everything from a routine injection to a CT scan; welcomes the videos that reach over 65,000 families each month and considers that these are invaluable in tackling the trauma experienced in relation to medical procedures by helping families to overcome the fear of the unknown and demystifying hospital experiences; understands that NHS staff have reported that WWCIH videos enable parents to provide informed consent swiftly, and that tests have a higher success and completion rate, meaning that wait times are reduced, and welcomes the work undertaken by WWCIH in helping families in Scotland.
