Public Inquiry into the Mesh Scandal
The motion
That the Parliament strongly condemns what it considers the failure of the Scottish Government to bring the reported pioneering mesh removal surgeon, Dr Veronikis, to Scotland as it previously stated it would; understands that some Scottish mesh patients have been told that they have had a full mesh removal, and that this is recorded in their hospital notes, only to later have it confirmed that this is not the case and that they still have significant amounts of mesh in their bodies; questions how such practice can occur; calls on the General Medical Council to fully investigate mesh removal practice in Scotland, and further calls on the Scottish Government to hold a full public inquiry into what it considers one of the worst medical scandals in Scotland’s NHS history, and for anyone who has failed patients to be held to account for their inaction.
