Tom Rawson, Tweed Forum River Champion
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Tom Rawson on being named the Tweed Forum River Champion; acknowledges that this annual award is given by the Tweed Forum to someone who has worked to enhance or protect the river and its surrounding landscape; understands that Tom, who teaches at St Mary’s School in Melrose, received the award for his work in eliminating single-use plastic at the school and for organising the 7Towns1River project, which saw almost 200 volunteers take part in a co-ordinated litter pick across the Borders, resulting in 2.2 tonnes of litter being collected; commends Tom on his hard work to reduce plastic pollution in the Tweed, and wishes him all the best.
